Kerry A. Horner, OD Kerry A. Horner, O.D. has provided optometric care to the Modesto Community for 33 years. Dr. Horner received his degree from the University of California School of Optometry at Berkeley in 1972. He served in the U.S. Army from 1972-1974, and began private practice in Modesto in 1974.
Dr. Horner has been an Assistant Clinical Professor at U.C. Berkely School of Optometry since 1981. He has designed and taught classes in Optometric Assisting at Modesto Junior College and has been an instuctor for the California Optometric Association Congress. Dr. Horner is a past-President of the San Joaquin Optometric Society and is member of the California and American Optometric Associations. He is a member of the American Optometric Associations Contact Lens Section and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. He is the founder of the Modesto Optometric Emergency Service. He is currently a thirteen-gallon donor at the Delta Blood Bank, and has served on the Board of Directors at the YMCA, Kiwanis Club of North Modesto, and the American Diabetes Association.
Michael Martin, OD Michael Martin, O.D., has been in practice for more than 32 years. He completed his optometric training at the University of California, Berkeley and served as president of his graduating class. Upon graduation in June of 1970, he completed a year's residency at the All India Institute in New Delhi, practiced for 1 year in England and 5 additional years in Capetown, South Africa. For the past 25 years he has been in practice in the Modesto area.
Dr. Martin has been active in the following organizations: The Boy Scouts of America, Modesto Downtown Rotary Club, North Modesto Rotary Club, Lions Club, Toastmasters, The Masonic Lodge, Shriners and the U.C. Alumni Association.
Dr. Martin is married, has twin sons and lives on the family farm in Ballico.
Ronald Janda, O.D. Ronald Janda, O.D., M.A., has been practicing Optometry since 1987. He has been involved in eyecare since 1981. Dr. Janda received his degree from the University of California School of Optometry at Berkeley. He then went on to complete a Master's degree in reading and learning disabilities also at the University of California, Berkeley in 1988.
Dr Janda has continued to teach at the U.C. Berkeley School of Opometry since 1986. He taught classes in optics, clinical procedures and pediatrics. Dr Janda enjoys helping people see the world as clearly as possible with the right eyewear, contact lenses or laser vision correction.
A native of San Jose, California, Dr. Janda has lived in Modesto since 1999. His wife, Judy, is a native of Modesto. They have 2 children. Dr. Janda enjoys auto mechanics, home projects, skiing, and traveling
Deborah Steinberg, O.D. Deborah E. Steinberg, O.D. has been practicing Optometry since 1988. Although she attended UCLA for 4 years as an undergraduate, she received both her B.S. and her O.D. degree from UC Berkeley. She also completed a residency program in contact lenses at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN., but she has been practicing in the Modesto area since 1990.
Dr. Steinberg is known for her thoroughness and problem-solving skills, and is the newest addition to the Sylvan Eye Associates team. "I love Optometry, because every patient that walks in the door brings in a different challenge with different needs. I enjoy putting all the pieces of the puzzle together, and figuring out ways to allow the patient to see better and to feel more comfortable in their daily life."
Dr. Steinberg is married to Dr. Ross Redding, another Modesto optometrist, and has two daughters. In her spare time, Dr Steinberg is a Girl Scout leader, and enjoys running, backpacking, and mountaineering. She is currently attempting to climb all the 14,000 foot peaks in California for "STOPCANCER.NET". "Climb for a Cure" has motivated me to be truly committed to making each summit, since we are doing this for a greater cause.
Anthony J. Guida, M.D. Anthony J. Guida, MD, has been in practice in Modesto since 1982 providing medical and surgical eye care to the community. Dr. Guida has been performing refractive surgery since 1983.
Dr. Guida's interest in ophthalmology began at a very young age. His father was an ophthalmologist in the Navy and later practiced in San Leandro. Young A.J. frequently visited his father's office, making ophthalmology second nature to him.
Dr. Guida received his medical degree from the University of Alabama, Birmingham. He completed his internship at the Presbyterian Hospital of Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, California, and performed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Alabama's Eye Foundation Hospital.
Dr. Guida is an experienced surgeon and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is certified as a Qualified Medical Examiner.
Rangu Chandran, M.D. Rangu Chandran, M.D., joined Sylvan Eye Associates in June 2004. He grew up in Southern California in Corona. His father is a retired ear, nose, and throat surgeon, and his grandfather is a retired general surgeon.
He received his undergraduate training at Stanford University. He completed his medical school training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston where he served as president of his graduating class. After finishing his ophthalmology surgery training at Yale University, he returned to Baylor College of Medicine for a two-year postdoctoral retina surgery fellowship.
His practice at Sylvan Eye Associates is devoted only to retinal diseases and surgery. He is board certified the American Board of Ophthalmology. His major clinical interests are diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, uveitis and retinal tears and detachments.
He is member of the Modesto Downtown Rotary Club.
Dr. Chandran is married, has two boys, and lives in Modesto. He enjoys playing sports and is an avid guitar fan.
Sharon Lutosky, M.D. Sharon Lutosky, MD., received her B.S. degree from the University of California at Irvine in 1968, and then went to U.C.L.A for her M.D. degree which she received in 1972. She then went to Standford for a Fellowship in Corneal Physiology in 1974.
While at Stanford she completed her Opthalmology residency in 1978. She became Board Certified in Opthalmology in 1980.
Dr. Lutosky is a member of the Stanilaus Medical Society. She is married and has one child.
